Amritsar, Mar 18 (UNI) Punjab Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a cross-border drug cartel by arresting one Dharminder Singh, alias Sonu, and recovering 8.084 kg of heroin from him.
DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that the accused was in touch with cross-border narco smugglers.
and was using the Ajnala sector for drone dropping of consignments. Police said that along with the contraband, one 30-bore pistol with five live cartridges was also recovered from the accused.
A FIR under the NDPS and Arms Act has been registered at PS Majitha, Amritsar, police sources added.
In another case, Amritsar Rural Police conducted raids at two houses in Village Bharopal, Gharinda and recovered 10 pistols (30 calibre) and 2 kg of heroin. Two accused, Kuljit Kaur and Rajbir Kaur, have been arrested, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the three other absconding suspects.
An FIR under the NDPS & Arms Act has been registered at PS Gharinda, Amritsar.
