Punjab: VB arrests deed writer demanding Rs 5.50 Lakh bribe

Chandigarh, Mar 19 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested Anupam Sharma, a deed writer at Fatehgarh Sahib for demanding a bribe of Rs 5.50 Lakh on behalf of another official.
An official spokesperson of the VB revealed that the arrest was made based on an online complaint filed by a resident of Bassi Pathana, in Fatehgarh Sahib district on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded the bribe on behalf of Sub-Registrar of Tehsil Bassi Pathana in connection with the execution of registration of properties. The complainant has recorded the conversation among him, the deed writer and the Sub-Registrar.
In this regard a case has been registered against the above said accused at the VB Police Station, Range Patiala. He would be produced before the competent court tomorrow.
He added that the role of the revenue officer would be examined during further investigation.
In another case the VB, on Wednesday, arrested an ASI Sarabjeet Singh for demanding and accepting
a bribe of Rs 3,000. UNI GS SSP
