Raids in several districts against members of banned organisations

Srinagar, Mar 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday carried out raids in several districts of Kashmir against the former members of banned organisations.

The raids, officials said, were conducted in the Shopian, Awantipora and Kulgam districts of Kashmir.

Police in the Awantipora sub-district conducted raids and searches in the houses of members and activists of the banned organisations Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party ’(JKDFP) and JK Peoples League in connection with the investigation of three cases registered in police stations of Pampore and Awantipora last year.

“The raids were conducted on the basis of their involvement in terror-related cases, and the same were conducted in the presence of concerned executive magistrates,” police said.

Police in Shopian also conducted raids at various places, including the residences of former Hurriyat leaders, in connection with the case registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA.
Similar raids were also conducted in Kulgam.
Sources said that police were checking if the members of banned organisations were doing some hidden activities.
