Reduction in water supply to Haryana shows BJP govt’s incompetence: Kumari Selja

Chandigarh, May 2 (UNI) Former Union Minister, and Member of Parliament from Sirsa, Kumari Selja
said on Friday that there is a major outcry about water scarcity across Haryana, but the state government
is only blaming the Punjab government and shirking its responsibilities.
She questioned how the Haryana government became so weak under BJP rule that Punjab took control of Haryana’s water share, and the government remained silent.
She said that the failure to construct the SYL Canal despite the Supreme Court’s orders and now silently accepting the reduction in water supply from Bhakhra dam is a symbol of the BJP government’s incompetence.
The people of the state are desperately in need of water, but despite the passing of so many days, the Chief Minister has not yet demanded intervention from the Prime Minister.
The Center must immediately intervene to resolve this serious issue for Haryana to get its rightful share of water. Congress will fully support any action the BJP government takes for the state’s water share, she said.
