Resignation of Kerala Health Minister demanded

Thiruvananthapuram, July 3 (UNI) Congress leader and AICC Working Committee Member Ramesh Chennithala demanded the resignation of State Health Minister Veena George following the death of a woman in the building collapse at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital today..
"It is time Health Minister Veena George put in her papers at the earliest," the Congress leader said.
"The Health Minister, along with Minister VN Vasavan from the district, visited the hospital and immediately declared it was a store room with no casualties. This delayed the evacuation by hours, and we finally found a poor lady under the debris."
This is institutional murder and the LDF Government’s mismanagement is the cause, he added.
"After the revelation of a reputed Government doctor of the sorry state of affairs in Government hospitals in Kerala, the Health minister and the Government are scrambling to find excuses," he felt.
"Health minister Veena George, who is an utter failure, has blamed on “Systemic Failure” as the cause, but my question is, who is the system? Isn’t it you and your responsibility who have been in the Government for the past 9 years to find solutions to the systemic collapse ?"
Blaming previous governments after being in power for 9 years, is just blatant incompetency. The common public of Kerala is aware of all of LDF governments misgovernance and corruption, he added.
Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, said, "The tragic death of a woman is heartbreaking. Even more disturbing is the absence of timely rescue efforts. Ministers declared the building unoccupied, which stalled rescue. The Health Minister has no moral right to remain in office. UNI DS SSP
