Rupee down 60 paise against USD

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) The rupee on Monday dropped 60 paise to close at 85.84 against USD, on brisk selling of US dollars from foreign banks and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit slid 42 paise at 85.65 in the opening session. Till the end of the session, it had slumped 60 paise at 85.84 as compared to its last close.
The local unit crashed as the stock market plunged.
The rupee recorded intraday highs and lows at 85.60 and 85.88, respectively, the dealer added.
