Rural training aimed at skilling youth, boosting tourism: Jaiveer Singh

Lucknow, May 3 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department successfully conducted a five-day residential foundation training programme for rural tourism coordinators at the Manyawar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management (MKITM).
The training, held under the UP Rural Tourism Project (Agri-Rural Tourism and Ganga Grams Rural Tourism), was aimed at building local capacity and enhancing village-level tourism experiences. A total of 29 village coordinators from 18 districts, including Shamli, Saharanpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Chandauli, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Amethi, Bahraich and Gonda, participated in the programme held between April 28 to May 2.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that the training aimed to equip coordinators with essential skills for promoting local tourism and supporting homestay operations. "The sessions covered a range of topics, including the concept of rural tourism, the role of village coordinators, personality development, homestay management, traditional cuisine, local crafts, folk arts and customs, organic farming, storytelling, waste management, digital payments, hygiene, safety, social media, online marketing, yoga and meditation," he said.
