Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday was heavily down by 880.34 pts to settle at 79,454.47 pts as a fresh missile attack by Pakistan deepened fears of further escalation.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 265.80 pts at 24,008.00.
After the news of rising border tension between India and Pakistan, the Sensex tanked 1366 pts to 78,968.34 in early trade. It remained the day's low figure.
Throughout the day, it was improved from the opening figure but ended in red only at 79,454.47, slumping 880.34 pts from its last close.
Meanwhile, it was recorded days high at 80,032.93, still down 302 pts.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 24,164.25 and low at 23,935.75 pts.
All the stocks were in red. Realty was major hit by 2.08 pc followed by utilities by 1.50 pc, financial services by 1.40 pc and energy by 0.74 pc.
The Mid cap declined 0.10 pc and Small cap by 0.30 pc. In 30 scrips, 5 advanced while 25 declined.
The losers were ICICI Bank by 3.09 pc to Rs 1389.65, Powergrid by 2.61 pc to Rs 299.80, Ultracemco by 2.15 pc to Rs 11,379.05 and Bajaj Finance by 1.84 pc to Rs 8656.
The gainers were Titan by 4.25 pc to Rs 3506.45, L&T by 4.02 pc to Rs 3454.25, Tata Motors by 3.86 pc to Rs 708.25 and SBI by 1.39 pc to Rs 779.40.
All global markets were in a positive mood.
European, USD and Asian markets were also on an upswing.
Hang Seng was up by 0.40 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 1.78 pc and Shanghai Composite by 0.36 pc.
