Mumbai, Apr 4 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday dropped 930.67 pts to settle at 75,364.69 on weak global cues amidst fear of global recession following the announcement of tariffs.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 345.65 pts to 22,904.45.
The day opened on a negative note at 76,160.09, falling 135 pts. It remained negative throughout the session. During the day, it tanked 1055 pts 75,240.55, day's low, before closing at 75,364.69, down 930.67 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 23,214.70 and a low at 22,857.45 pts.
Stocks that were badly hit were Metal by 6.34 pc, followed by Oil and Gas and Commodities by 3.89 pc each. Energy by 3.65 pc and Reality by 3.61 pc.
The mid-cap declined 3.08 pc and the Small cap by 3.43 pc.
The losers were Tata Steel by 8.36 pc to Rs 140.80, Tata Motors by 5.92 pc to Rs 615.30, L&T by 4.69 pc to Rs 3258.40, and Adani Ports by 4.01 pc to Rs 1153.
The gainers were Bajaj Finance by 1.59 pc to Rs 8735, HDFC Bank by 1.30 pc to Rs 1817, Nestle India Ltd by 0.79 pc to Rs 2364.95, and ICICI Bank by 0.38 pc to Rs 1334.05.
In the Asian Market, Straits Times fell by 3.04 pc, Kospi by 0.86 pc, and Set Composite by 3.25 pc.
