Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday slumped by 1,390.41 points to end negative at 76,024.51 amidst uncertainty about implementation of tariffs by the Trump administration on Wednesday.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) also dropped by 353.65 pts to 23,165.70.
The equity market opened in red today with the Sensex falling by 532 pts to 76,882.58. During the day, it crashed further by 1,502 pts to hit the day's low of 75,912.18, before closing at 76,024.51, down by 1,390.41 pts as compared to its previous close.
The Nifty registered day's high at 23,565.15 and low at 23,136.40 pts.
Stocks that dragged the market down were Realty (down by 3.05 percent), Consumer Durables (by 2.51 pc), Focussed IT (by 2.42 pc) and IT (by 2.24 pc).
The Mid-cap declined by 1.04 pc while the Small cap edged up by 0.07 pc.
Among 30 scrips on BSE, two advanced, 27 declined while one remained unchanged.
The losers were HCL Technology (down by 3.66 pc to Rs 1,532.70), Bajaj Finserv (by 3.19 pc to Rs 1,942.05), HDFC Bank (by 3.14 pc to Rs 1,771) and Bajaj Finance (by 2.71 pc to Rs 8,705.95).
Whereas, the gainers were IndusInd Bank (up by 5.07 pc to Rs 682.50) and Zomato (by 0.27 pc to Rs 202.05).
Both the European and the Asian markets were positive today.
