Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) The equity market remained on top for the fifth consecutive session on Monday, as the BSE Sensex advanced 855.30 pts to close strong at 79,408.50, 3-month-high following gains in Power, IT and Energy stocks amid Foreign Fund inflows.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 273.90 pts at 24,125.55.
The Sensex remained positive throughout the session, as it opened on a strong note at 78,903.09, rising 350 pts. During the day, it was edged up 1082 pts at 79,635.05, days high, before closing at 79,408.50, advancing 855.30 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high at 24,189.55
and low at 23,903.65 pts.
Positive earning of HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank,
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) inflows maintained rally intact.
Stocks glittered were Oil and Gas by 2.61 pc, Power by 2.49 pc, IT by 2.31 pc and Energy by 2.12 pc.
The Mid cap rose 2.20 pc and Small cap by 1.67 pc.
The gainers were Tech Mahindra by 4.91 pc to Rs 1370, IndusInd Bank by 4.05 pc to Rs 826.60, Powergrid by 3.63 pc to Rs 320, Bajaj Finserv by 3.51 pc to Rs 2105.05 and M & M by 3.20 pc to Rs 2767.30.
The losers were Adani Ports by 1.27 pc to Rs 1243.90, Hind Unilever by 1.04 pc to Rs 2350, ITC by 1.01 pc to Rs 422.95 and Asian Paints by 0.97 pc to Rs 2445.60.
