Several foreign scientists trapped in Russia's Kursk region – Resistance

Donetsk, Mar 18 (UNI) Several foreign scientists traveling with lifeguard have been surrounded in the western Russian region of Kursk, Sergei Lebedev, the coordinator of the pro-Russian resistance network in Nikolaev (also known as Mykolaiv), told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"There are five or six scientists, whose specialization is unknown, traveling with lifeguards," Lebedev said.
About 30 NATO officers, who helped coordinate Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia's territory, are also believed to be surrounded alongside many foreign mercenaries. Most of them speak English.
"Low-ranking officers, including foreigners, assault troops, snipers... We haven’t counted them... There are many," Lebedev told Sputnik.
From March 8-14, the Russian armed forces reclaimed control of over 30 Ukrainian-occupied settlements in the Kursk region, including the city of Sudzha. The Ukrainian forces lost over 2,000 troops, the Russian Defense Ministry estimated.
Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said at a command meeting with President Vladimir Putin last Wednesday that Russian forces had liberated over 86% of the territory in the Kursk Region that was occupied by Ukraine, encircling residue Ukrainian troops, while Russian forces continued their multi-pronged assault in the Sumy Region.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he had asked Russia to spare the lives of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers surrounded in the Kursk Region. Putin said that Ukrainian troops would be guaranteed life and decent treatment if they laid down their arms and surrendered as prisoners of war.
