Six Police officers injured during protest in Istanbul - Interior Minister

Ankara, Mar 21 (UNI) Six law enforcement officers were injured during a protest in Istanbul, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.
Protests in support of detained Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu took place in Ankara and Istanbul on Thursday. The leader of Turkey's largest opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Ozgur Ozel, repeatedly called on the police and city authorities to stop using pepper spray against protesters in Istanbul.
"Six police officers were injured during demonstrations in Sarachane [Istanbul] this evening. Our heroic police officers, who guarantee the peace and security of our country, are confronting provocations with great wisdom, patience and common sense and are demonstrating an exemplary stance on how to manage social incidents," Yerlikaya said on X on Thursday.
