Ramanagara (Karnataka), April 19 (UNI) Ricky Rai, son of late underworld don and Jaya Karnataka founder Muthappa Rai sustained injuries in a gun attack by unidentified assailants near his residence in Bidadi in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am, following which Rai was shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment, Ramanagara Superintendent of Police Srinivas Gowda said.

Speaking to media in Bengaluru, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said, "The police officer concerned has been directed to provide further details. At present, Ricky Rai has not suffered any serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. The police are investigating."
