SP, Cong only "cheated" Muslims for vote bank politics: Brajesh Pathak

Firozabad (UP), May 7 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday described the Waqf Amendment Act as in the interest of poor and needy Muslims and alleged the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, which do vote bank politics, have only cheated the Muslims.
The Deputy CM said the management system of Waqf has been very weak, in which there has been almost no accountability. "For this reason, the Waqf Act 2025 has been made, so that the governance of Waqf can be streamlined. Serious issues like triple talaq have nothing to do with Islam. Congress and SP link all these issues to Islam for vote bank politics and have been misleading the Muslim community till date," he alleged.
He said that Waqf is a donated property which should be used in the interest of the society. "This amendment has been made in the new Waqf Act. The poor and Pasmanda families of the Muslim society, women, especially Muslim widows and children will get their rights and their rights protect them. This is real social justice," he said.
Pathak said, "The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 will ensure transparency, accountability and good governance in Waqf properties and will also effectively control corruption. This reform is for the progress of poor Muslims and its pleasant results will come in the future."
The Deputy CM said that by ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties, the central government is taking concrete steps for the welfare of the weaker and deprived sections of the Muslim community.
He said, "A large number of people of the Muslim community have been given the benefits of government housing and other public welfare schemes. No discrimination has been made against anyone, whereas both SP and Congress have cheated the Muslims, their votes are taken and only used and then thrown away."
