Chennai, Apr 25 (UNI) Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to field against Chennai Super Kings in their crucial IPL fixture here on Friday, citing pitch conditions and a fresh venue as motivating factors.
"Chennai is always a big game. We’re coming off a couple of losses, but it’s a new venue and the boys are up for it," Cummins said at the toss. "The pitch looks a little bit dry, but we’re backing our batsmen to get a big total if needed, and otherwise, we have full faith in our bowling unit."
Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni acknowledged the importance of the toss, pointing to dew as a significant reason behind his team’s preference to bowl first had they won the toss.
