Port Elizabeth, Dec 6 (UNI) A collective batting effort led by Pathum Nissanka's composed 89 placed Sri Lanka in a strong position at stumps on the second day of the second Test against South Africa at St George's Park on Friday.
The visitors closed the day at 242/3, trailing the hosts by 116 runs.
Earlier, South Africa’s Kyle Verreynne shone with an unbeaten 105, supported by Ryan Rickelton’s 101, as the Proteas posted 358. Despite Sri Lanka reducing South Africa to 269/7 on the opening day, the ninth-wicket stand between Verreynne and Kagiso Rabada proved vital, adding 66 runs.
