Sri Lankan police crack down on drunk driving

Colombo, Apr 16 (UNI) Sri Lankan police have taken legal action against 800 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol within a 48-hour period ending at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, as part of special operations conducted during the country's festive season.
Police spokesman K.B. Manathunga told local media that the police will continue these operations in the coming days to apprehend drunk drivers.
Manathunga also noted that police have launched a broader operation aimed at reducing road accidents, anticipating a surge in traffic over the next few days.
