Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) On the auspicious occasion of Sri Rama Navami, the city of Hyderabad witnessed a grand and spiritually uplifting procession of Lord Sri Rama on Sunday.
The vibrant procession, which commenced from the historic Sitaram Bagh temple, is making its way toward Kothi Hanuman Vyayamshala (Gymnasium), covering a total distance of 6.2 kilometer.
The streets reverberated with the chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” as devotees lined the roads to participate in the celebrations. Idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman were carried in colorful processions from various parts of the city.
A massive turnout of devotees, including those from other states, added to the grandeur of the occasion. The entire city was draped in saffron as flags, decorations, and traditional music filled the air with devotional fervor.
Given the large-scale procession, Hyderabad Police have imposed traffic restrictions in several areas and deployed an estimated 20,000 personnel to ensure safety and the smooth conduct of the event. Elaborate security arrangements were made along the route.
Earlier in the day, on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma performed special pujas at the historic Sitaram Bagh temple. The temple priests accorded him a traditional welcome and offered Vedic blessings.
Addressing devotees, Governor Varma reflected on the cultural and spiritual significance of Lord Ram. “Dharma protects those who protect Dharma. Whatever Bhagwan Ram did, he did in the service of Dharma. He is a pioneer in upholding righteous values. Ram is not only the soul of Indian tradition but also an eternal ideal for every citizen,” he said.
The Governor invoked the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya, who established monasteries across India for the protection of Dharma, and drew parallels with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, stating, “Our Prime Minister is walking the path of Lord Ram by striving for inclusive development.”
Later, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma officially inaugurated the Sri Rama Navami Shobha Yatra under the aegis of the Bhagyanagar Sri Rama Navami Utsav Samiti, marking the ceremonial start of the citywide celebrations.
