Türkiye detains 89 suspected IS members in anti-terror operations

Ankara, Apr 16 (UNI) Turkish police detained 89 suspects accused of involvement with the Islamic State (IS) in a major counter-terrorism operation across the country, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Wednesday.
The operations were conducted across 17 provinces, including Antalya, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul and Van, Yerlikaya said on social media platform X, without specifying the time frame of the operations.
The coordinated operations, carried out simultaneously, targeted individuals allegedly active within the terrorist group, he said, adding, "We continue our operations without interruption to ensure the peace and security of our citizens."
