Hyderabad, May 4 (UNI) Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao conducted a comprehensive review of major infrastructure projects in Hyderabad on Sunday, emphasising the need for timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
During his visit, the CS inspected several ongoing works across the city, aimed at improving urban connectivity, pedestrian safety, and heritage conservation.
The Chief Secretary first visited the foot overbridge (FOB) construction site in Banjara Hills, where he reviewed the progress and interacted with officials.
Secretary MAUD, Ilambarthi, informed him that 42 FOBs are currently at various stages of development across the city, and surveys are underway to identify additional locations. The FOBs are intended to improve pedestrian mobility, ease traffic flow, and enhance the city’s aesthetics through modern design.
Later, the CS inspected the ongoing road widening works from MG Bus Station to Chandrayangutta in the Old City, a crucial stretch for the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, which is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 2,741 crore. Metro Rail MD updated the CS on the progress of land acquisition required for the road expansion.
In a move to preserve the city’s rich heritage, the Chief Secretary also reviewed the conservation and restoration efforts at Khurshid Jah Devdi in Hussaini Alam near Charminar.
He also inspected civil works at Moosarambagh Flyover, Falaknuma Road Over Bridge, and the Amberpet Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
Accompanied by GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy, and other senior civic officials, the Chief Secretary directed departments to maintain strict quality standards and expedite work to ensure timely project completion.
