Telangana govt to invite tender to set up renewable energy plants : Sandeep Sultania

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (UNI) Telangana state Energy Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania on Friday said the Telangana Government is planning to invite tenders very soon to set up Renewable Energy Plants as part of the State Energy Policy 2025 to achieve 20,000 MW of green energy.
Addressing after inaugurating the 3rd Intl Conference on Green Technology, Policy and Finance (ICGTPF), organised by Chandradeep Solar Research Institute here, Sandeep said India, as a developing country, needs more energy. So we need not just energy but green energy. The governments are also committed to the same.
"We need green energy that produces less pollution. We must reduce dependency on fossil fuels. For that, we need strong grid stability," he stated.
"We need stronger technologies for better storage. Currently available energy storage technologies are PSP and Battery Storage. As of now, total electricity generation capacity is significantly fossil fuels. Fossil fuels remain a significant part of the mix," said Sandeep.
"We need to depend on the existing storage technologies till such time the renewable energy generation goes up. In the USA, 94 percent of storage is PSP," he said.
The Energy Secretary said Telangana is doing well as one-third of energy in the state is renewable energy.
The Telangana government is most forward-looking in this aspect and has put in place policy guidelines in place, he said the Telangana government aims to generate 20,000 MW of green energy by 2030 from the present 8,938 MW generation capacity, and 40,000 MW by 2040.
Telangana will be an energy-efficient state. Tenders will be called soon for the installation of solar power plants. More storage technologies must come, and those technologies should be affordable, he said.
He urged industry to invest in technology. Battery storage is not sustainable. Artificial Intelligence in Renewable Energy can do wonders.
Ajay Mishra, Chairman of ICGTPF, said this conference is focusing on the AI aspect of Green Energy to see how it can be more efficient. Hyderabad is an ideal place for this kind of a discussion. We are at the forefront of technology as well as sustainable energy practices. Renewable energy will contribute to the darkening of the universe.
Earlier in his welcoming address, FTCCI President Dr Suresh Singhal, said there is a strong need for the adoption of AI in the sustainable energy sector. It is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. We must explore actionable strategies that will transform our energy future.
Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner in Hyderabad, said AI itself is not energy efficient. It requires a lot of energy. We must address this and the climate change challenge. He urged people to invest in green energy. The UK has taken up many initiatives to invite green investments, which have yielded good investments to the extent of 43 billion pounds in just three years.
Around 200-plus industry leaders participated in the day-long conference and had panel discussions on AI & ML for Onshore/Offshore Wind Power Installation; The Future of Solar Energy: Integrating with AI; AI's role in Green Hydrogen Generation, Optimization and Efficiency.
