Telangana Sailors Shine at Junior Nationals with 4 Golds, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) Telangana sailors delivered a stellar performance at the Junior Sailing Nationals held in Marve, Mumbai, from May 3 to 10, winning four golds, one silver, and one bronze.
Lahiri Komaravelly, a resident of Rasoolpura and student of Udbhav School, clinched gold in the Under-16 sub-junior category with a dominant showing—winning four of nine races and finishing with an unassailable 13-point lead. Her schoolmates, Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan Kathravath, also emerged national champions in the Junior Double Hander class.
In a historic sweep, Telangana’s Bunny Bongur, Rizwan Mohammad, and Ravi Kumar took gold, silver, and bronze in the Under-15 boys category, securing all podium spots for the state. Chandralekha Tattari added a bronze in the sub-juniors, making five out of six podium finishes from Telangana in that class.
Coach Suheim Sheikh, President of the Yacht Club of Hyderabad, credited the success to intensive year-long training and said that Telangana could see at least seven sailors selected for the upcoming Langkawi International in June.
The team now heads to Shillong for another national regatta before competing in the Monsoon Regatta at Hussain Sagar, Hyderabad, a statement here said on Monday.
