Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Budget session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly,
which began on Friday, will be held till April 30.
A decision to this effect was taken at the Business Advisory Committee
meeting held at Speaker M Appavu's Chamber soon after Finance Minister
Thangam Thennarasu presented the last full fledged state budget for the
year 2025-26.
Next year, an interim budget would be presented as Assembly elections
are due in April-May.
Talking to reporters, Mr Appavu said the Agriculture Budget would be tabled
by Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam tomorrow.
After adopting condolence resolutions in respect of former members and
prominent leaders who died in recent past, the debate on the General and
Agriculture budgets would be held for four days from Monday (March 17)
to Thursday (March 20) and it would be followed by the Minister's reply on
Friday (March 21).
The demand for grants for various departments would be taken up from
March 24 to April 30 after weekend holidays on March 22 and 23.
There would be no sittings of the Assembly for 16 days due to weekend
and government holidays like Mahaveer Jayanthi, Ramzan, Tamil New
Year and Good Friday.
