TN: Four-year-old girl falls into open sump in Kindergarten school, dies

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Apr 29 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a four-year-old girl student, died after she accidentally fell into an open water sump at a private kindergarten school at K.K.Nagar locality in Madurai on Tuesday.

Police said the deceased was identified as Arudhra.

The girl was playing with her friends, when she accidentally fell into the 15-feet-deep water sump inside the Sri KinderGarten School.

The lid of the water sump was kept open.

The girl was rescued in an unconscious state and rushed to a private hospital, where she died without responding to the treatment.

Following the incident, Madurai Revenue Division Officer, R.D.Shalini inspected the school premises and held an inquiry with the school authorities.

The school was temporarily sealed by the district administration due to negligent safety aspects.

The Anna Nagar police have registered a case and arrested six persons, including the correspondent and teachers of the school over the death of the girl.
