TN Guv, CM, leaders pay tributes to Ambedkar

Chennai, Apr 14 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, Chief Minister M K Stalin
and leaders of various political parties paid floral tributes to the architect of Indian
Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary on Monday.
The Governor paid floral tributes to a portrait of Dr Ambedkar at Raj Bhavan.
Mr Stalin paid floral tributes to his portrait at Dr Ambedkar Memorial to mark the
occasion. He was accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues, including Deputy
Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin who garlanded his statue and paid rich tributes
to Ambedkar, who rooted out untouchability and ensured social equality.
Apart from administering the Equality Day pledge to Ministers and other officials,
Mr Stalin also launched various events, opened a photo exhibition, inaugurated
ten-storeyed new hostel building for Adi Dravidar and Tribal students built at a
cost of Rs 44.40 crore at the M C Raja College campus in the city, where he and
leaders of DMK alliance parties paid floral tributes to a portrait of Dr Ambedkar,
opened a library at the campus to mark the occasion.
At an official event got up to celebrate the Equality Day, Mr Stalin distributed welfare
schemes o the tune of 104.75 crore for 48,436 beneficiaries and inaugurated various
facilities for Adi Dravidar students, including hostels, reading and training halls in
22 colleges, community halls and infrastructural facilities in 46 schools and presented
a copy of the foreword of Indian Constitution as a memento to Prakash Ambedkar,
who participated in the event as a special guest to mark the occasion.
Later, in a social media post, Mr Stalin hailed Dr Ambedkar's contributions and vowed
to continue in the path shown by him to protect the rights of Oppressed and the Backward
Classes.
"The Dravidian Model DMK government, which is marching towards the goal "All for all",
will surely realise Dr Ambedkar's dream of an Equality India. Jai Bheem!".
Elsewhere in the State, leaders of various political parties paid floral tributes to
Dr Ambedkar.
At Salem, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi
K Palaniswami, accompanied by senior party functionaries, garlanded the life
size statue of Dr Ambedkar and paid floral tributes.
