Tripura: CM meets security agencies and reviews law and order

Agartala, May 9 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday held a high-level meeting of security agencies and reviewed the law and order, border security along the Tripura-Bangladesh border, and security coordination status following hostilities between India and Pakistan.
Officials of BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, Indian Army, and SIB, besides Director General of Police Anurag Dhankhar, attended the meeting in the residence of Chief Minister for more than an hour.
“The Chief Minister expressed concern over the cross-border movement of Bangladeshi nationals through Tripura despite multi-layered security along wire fencing. The activities of fundamentalist groups in Bangladesh and their anti-Indian operatives have also been stressed in the discussion,” sources underlined.
The DG Police informed the meeting that deployment of forces and intelligence personnel has increased manifold in the identified locations across the state following hostile situations on the Western border. Multi-phased security surveillance has been stepped up, and security in Agartala airport was increased both in and outside.
“Tripura police have notified an elaborate format for the residents of the state, advising them to submit it in advance to the local police station in case of renting a house or property to any individual, as there is a chance of foreign nationals concealing their identity with ill intention,” sources claimed.
According to sources, the security agencies briefed their preparation separately in case of any adverse eventuality. The distorting information coming from Bangladeshi media regarding India-Pakistan retaliation has also reportedly been discussed in the meeting.
