Tripura govt to deploy special executives as tourist police

Tripura govt to deploy special executives as tourist police

Agartala, May 7 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the government is planning the deployment of special executives (civil police) as tourist police in all the tourist spots to facilitate tourists.

He said Tripura became insurgency-free as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah brought banned outfits ATTF and NLFT into normal life. The law and order has significantly improved.

“We have seen the 35 years of rule of CPI (M) and Congress. They have never thought of developing tourism, but after Modiji became Prime Minister, not only Tripura, but the entire Northeast saw a new era of development, making the region a vibrant and resourceful destination for investment and tourism,” Dr Saha said.

He said the government has planned to invest Rs 67 crore in Chabimura to attract tourists.

“We have a plan to introduce tourist police for the tourists, and soon we are preparing special executives and will see whether we can deploy them there or not. People want peace, and they don’t want disturbance,” said Dr Saha.

The Chief Minister further informed that the state government is working to open a tertiary eye hospital, and for that, land has also been identified in Agartala for a 100-bed facility. “An Ophthalmology Regional Institute will be set up so that people don’t need to go outside of the state,” he added.
