Tripura will not be impacted by restrictions on fish imports from Bangladesh: Minister

Agartala, May 23 (UNI) Tripura Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das on Friday assured that the state will not face any fish shortage despite restrictions on imports from Bangladesh.
He emphasised that Tripura’s own fish production is enough to meet local demand, and the state also imports fish from West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, ensuring ample supply.
“Centre has imposed restrictions on importing certain products, even without fish from Bangladesh, Tripura will not face any problem,” Das said while chairing a review meeting.
He focused on efficient implementation of the projects and asked for evaluating successes and identifying areas for improvement.
The department is working towards self-sufficiency not only in fish but also in milk, eggs, and meat, while ensuring proper animal healthcare, he underlined.
