Two women end lives after killing their 2 minor grand daughters

Chennai, June 18 (UNI) In a tragic incident, two elderly women killed their two minor granddaughters

and later ended their lives following a domestic dispute at Chinna Kulipatti village in Dindigul district

of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

Police said the two deceased women were identified as Kaleeswari and her elderly mother Chellammal, who took the extreme step after killing their two grand daughters born to the former's daughter Pavithra.

Pavithra was married to one Prabhakaran a few years ago and the couple had two daughters. Due

to differences that cropped with her husband, Pavithra deserted him and stayed with her mother along with her two young daughters.

In the meantime, Pavithra allegedly had a relationship with another man and eloped with him leaving behind her children against her mother’s and grandmother’s wishes.

Unable to bear this, the two elderly women ended their lives after poisoning their two granddaughters.

Police, acting on information, rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Government hospital

in Dindigul for post mortem.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
