Union minister Sukanta Majumdar appeals to all to participate in mock-drill

Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Education and Development of Northeast Sukanta Majumdar on Tuesday appealed to all citizens, especially the students, to come forward and volunteer to take part in the mock-drill to be held nationwide on Wednesday.
"All the citizens, students, volunteers, BJP karyakartas for the mock drill to ensure preparedness in case of any exigency," said Majumdar, also the BJP state president.
He said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed all states to conduct mock drills on May 7 to ensure preparedness and effectiveness of civil defence mechanisms.
The key components of the drill include activating air raid warning sirens, training civilians and students in self-protection during hostile attacks, implementing crash blackout measures, initiating early camouflage of critical infrastructure, and updating and rehearsing evacuation plans.
A civil defence mock drill is an exercise in day-to-day preparedness within a convocation to test the response of civilians and government to mitigate circumstances such as wars, missile strikes or aerial bombardments.
Civil Defence activities include the starting of air raid sirens, city blackout, sheltering of civilians, the execution of emergency team activities, and other activities which are done in real time. Doing so will make sure that there is more awareness. UNI PC SSP

The deceased has been identified as Gautam Roy (29) a resident of Radha Gobindapur village under Laljuri gram panchayat. The injured were Nepal Gope (42) and Tapan Shil (42), are undergoing treatment at Unakoti District Hospital.
