Pratapgarh (UP), Apr 26 (UNI) A 22-year-old girl was strangled to death under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Nagar Kotwali area of Pratapgarh district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Saturday.

Police sources said that Abhishek, a resident of Pahar Pur Gajehra of Delhu Pur police station area, came to City Prime hotel with a girl named Ritu Pal of Delhu Pur on Friday morning at around 10 am.

"Both of them were staying in a room in the hotel. Abhishek left the hotel in the afternoon. At around 10:30 pm on Friday night, on getting suspicious, the hotel staff started calling from inside to open the locked room," they said.

Police sources said that on not getting any response, the staff informed the hotel owner and the police. "Circle Officer (City) Shiv Narayan reached the hotel with the police and got the room opened where Ritu Pal's body was lying. On finding the matter suspicious, forensic team was called," they said.

CO (City) Shiv Narayan said that the girl was strangulated to death.

"The family of the deceased has been informed about the incident. The youth Abhishek is suspected of murder and is being searched. Legal action will be taken on receiving the complaint," he said.
