Washington, Apr 2 (UNI) The United States will consider a final proposal over a potential TikTok deal on April 2, the CBS News broadcaster reported on Tuesday, citing sources.
US President Donald Trump will meet in the Oval Office with key administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, the report said.
The US is finalizing its plans over the deal, which may include Blackstone and Oracle, as well as other investors, such as blue-chip private equity firms, venture capital companies, and key technology sector investors, the report added.
US Congress passed a bill last year, setting the deadline for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell its share by January 19, and Apple and Google blocked TikTok from downloading the same day. However, Trump extended this period until April 5. He also threatened to ban the Chinese giant from working in the US if it failed to fulfill his conditions, according to the report.
On January 17, the Supreme Court voted unanimously to uphold the law banning the Chinese-owned video-sharing app in the US on national security grounds.
