Uttarakhand: House of man accused of murdering live-in partner bulldozed

Nainital, May 5 (UNI) The Udham Singh Nagar police in Uttarakhand on Monday demolished the illegally constructed house of Mushtaq Ahmad, accused of killing his live-in partner Pooja Biswas by slitting her throat and dumping her body in a canal.

The administration's action sends a strong message to criminals, police said.
According to reports, Mushtaq, a resident of Gaurikhera in Sitarganj, had lured Pooja, a resident of Bengali Colony in Nanakmatta, into a relationship by posing as a Hindu. The two started living together, but Mushtaq later married another woman in Sitarganj.

When Pooja objected to his second marriage, Mushtaq took her to his sister's house in Khatima and killed her on November 16, 2024.
Pooja's sister had filed a missing person's report in Gurgaon on December 19 after she failed to return.
The Gurgaon police arrested Mushtaq last week and recovered Pooja's torso from the canal based on his confession. However, her head is still missing.

Meanwhile, the Udham Singh Nagar administration received a complaint that Mushtaq's father, Ali Ahmad, had encroached upon land belonging to a Tharu resident, Narayan Singh, and built a house.

After verifying the complaint, the administration found that the land belonged to Mathura Prasad, a member of the Scheduled Tribe community, and the house was constructed illegally.
A notice was issued to the accused to vacate the land, and on Monday, the police and administration demolished the house using a bulldozer.

Udham Singh Nagar SSP Manikant Mishra confirmed the action.
