Jammu, Apr 19 (UNI) Vehicular movement has been suspended on Kishtwar-Paddar stretch as the road was damaged due to landslide in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
An official here on Saturday said the landslide triggered at Pattharnaki area on Kishtwar-Paddar stretch.
"Vehicular movement was immediately suspended to prevent any tragedy," he added.
Meanwhile, MLA Paddar, Sunil Sharma said, "The traffic has been suspended along the stretch and more than 14 families residing near the affected area have been shifted to safer locations as a precaution."
Sharma said that the area has long been prone to landslides, adding, "While we have managed the situation temporarily, it is clear that a permanent solution is urgently needed."
The MLA also informed that he has requested the Deputy Commissioner to visit the site, and all concerned officials have been called in for assessment and planning.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Shavan said, "We have inspected the spot and have ordered precautionary suspension of vehicular movement."
"The site is being assessed for restoration of repair work," he said.
