Warrant officer dies after falling during helicopter jump in Agra

Agra (UP), Apr 5 (UNI) An Air Force officer who was training soldiers to jump from a helicopter at the Air Force campus in Agra, died after his parachute failed to open on Saturday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Warrant Officer Ram Kumar Tiwari (41), a a resident of Belha village in Pratapgarh, was teaching soldiers the technique of jumping from a helicopter in an emergency at the Agra Airbase at around 9.30 am on Saturday. "As soon as he jumped from the helicopter, his parachute failed to open due to some technical reason and he fell straight to the ground," they said.
Police sources said that on seeing this, other officers present there and soldiers undergoing training ran towards him. "Ram Kumar was immediately taken to the Military Hospital in an ambulance. Seeing his critical condition, the doctors immediately admitted him to the ICU. After two hours of treatment here, he died at 11.40 am," they said.
Police sources said that Ram Kumar lived in Agra with his wife Preeti and two sons Yash (14) and Kush (10). "The body of warrant officer Ram Kumar will be taken to his village Belha in Pratapgarh on Sunday where he will be cremated with state honours," they said.
