Well-marked low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal; Thunderstorms likely in Coastal AP, Rayalaseema

Amaravati, Apr 8 (UNI) The low-pressure area that developed over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on Monday has moved northwestwards and now lies as a well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal as of 0830 hours on Tuesday.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to the middle tropospheric levels.
According to the Meteorological Department, the system is likely to continue moving north-northwestwards over the west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours while maintaining its intensity. Thereafter, it is expected to recurve north-northeastwards and gradually weaken over the central Bay of Bengal within the following 24 hours.
