Yogi to inaugurate public welfare projects in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur, May 11 (UNI) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate two significant public welfare projects in Gorakhpur on Monday, marking a major enhancement to the city's civic infrastructure, official sources said here on Sunday.
Sources said that the ambitious projects, developed under initiatives proposed by the Uttar Pradesh government, include a state-of-the-art Urban Facilitation Centre and the city's first dedicated Senior Citizen Care Centre.
Sources said that the three-story Urban Facilitation Centre, constructed for Rs. 1171.64 lakh, stands prominently opposite Gorakhpur Club in the Civil Lines area. "The modern structure is fully equipped with advanced facilities, including comprehensive fire safety systems, cafeteria services, elevators and complete air conditioning throughout the building. This centre represents a significant step toward bringing municipal services closer to citizens' doorsteps," they said.
Sources said that the facility will serve as a one-stop solution for residents from all wards under Zone 3 of the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation. "Citizens can access a comprehensive range of municipal services, including property tax assessment and payment, sewerage services, street lighting maintenance, road construction and repair and issuance of critical documents such as birth and death certificates," they said.
Sources said that municipal officials emphasise that the centre will streamline the process for residents to pay various municipal taxes, water charges and sewer taxes conveniently and efficiently. "Besides, the centre will feature highly trained and courteous staff who will provide detailed information about all municipal schemes and programmes. Modern digital interfaces and information counters will further enhance the citizen experience," they said.
Sources said that in a parallel development addressing the needs of the elderly population, the CM will also inaugurate Gorakhpur's first Senior Citizen Care Centre. "Developed for Rs. 250 lakh under the State Smart City initiative, this specialised facility caters to senior citizens living alone," they said.
Sources said that the comprehensive Senior Citizen Care Centre offers a wide array of amenities designed for the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the elderly. "These include a spacious yoga hall, engaging indoor games, a well-stocked library, a comfortable cafeteria, regular health check-up facilities, doctor consultations, professional physiotherapy services, a fully equipped gym and a collection of spiritual books," they said.
Sources said that the centre will conduct regular yoga sessions to help senior citizens maintain physical fitness and mental alertness. "Professional physiotherapists will be on-site to address age-related mobility issues and provide therapeutic interventions. The facility also includes a dedicated counselling corner where elderly residents can receive information about various government welfare schemes specifically designed for senior citizens," they said.
