You are the architects of the IAF's destiny: Air Chief Marshal to flight cadets

Hyderabad, June 14 (UNI) Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), on Saturday said that flight cadets are the architects of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) destiny.
He was addressing the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of the 215th Course at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, near Hyderabad, on Saturday.
In his address, the Air Chief said it was an honour to review the CGP and that he considered himself fortunate to do so for two consecutive courses. Reflecting on his own commissioning 40 years ago, he noted that while much had changed, the spirit and pride of donning the uniform remained the same.
He complimented the cadets for their immaculate turnout and crisp drill movements, stating that the parade was not just a demonstration of military precision but a true reflection of the spirit of the Indian Air Force.
He congratulated the cadets on successfully completing their training and being commissioned as officers. Special praise was extended to officers from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and international trainees from Vietnam who earned their coveted wings.
He said the IAF was as proud of them as their own services and hoped they would take back cherished memories from their time at the academy, further strengthening the bond between their nations and the Indian Air Force.
Air Chief Marshal Singh also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the parents and families of the cadets, acknowledging their sacrifices and steadfast support in helping the cadets realise their dreams. He said the nation and the Air Force would remain forever indebted to them.
He also commended the Air Officer Commanding, the Commandant of AFA, other training establishments, instructors, and staff for their unwavering efforts in upholding the high standards of training.
Speaking to the newly commissioned officers, he reminded them that by choosing to serve the nation, they had embarked on a challenging but immensely rewarding journey.
As the nature of warfare evolves and the IAF rapidly transforms into an aerospace force, he said the responsibility of delivering swift, precise, and decisive responses would lie on their shoulders. He reminded them that the IAF has always been the first responder, and it is their collective responsibility to live up to the trust placed in them by every Indian.
The Air Chief emphasised that the culmination of years of perseverance and training marks only the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning. He urged the officers to continuously expand their horizons, adapt to complex battlefields, and prepare themselves for future challenges through relentless training and personal growth.
He highlighted that many of them would lead India’s ventures into space and that this would require total commitment, innovation, and a sense of purpose.
He underlined the importance of teamwork, noting that strength comes from cohesion, not just individual excellence. No branch functions in isolation—on ground or in the sky—and every role is crucial to the IAF's success.
He encouraged the cadets to understand their roles well and contribute with their best efforts to bring glory to the motherland. Referring to recent global operations, he lauded the exceptional coordination, synergy, and jointness displayed by various arms of the defence services.
The Air Chief also reminded the officers to remain physically and mentally fit throughout their careers and to adopt a healthy lifestyle that supports personal and professional development.
He urged them never to forget the oath they took to uphold the Constitution of India and protect the nation’s sovereignty and integrity. In a few moments, he said, they would officially become commissioned officers—not greenhorns, but leaders ready to face any challenge.
Reiterating that they are the architects of the IAF’s destiny, he said this responsibility should serve not as a burden, but as a lifelong source of motivation.
He urged them to uphold the ethos, honour, and traditions of the IAF, to wear the uniform with pride, lead from the front, and be guided always by the core values of the IAF—Mission, Integrity, and Excellence.
On behalf of the entire Indian Air Force, he welcomed the new officers and wished them a fulfilling and successful career, saying, “May God bless you all with blue skies and happy landings.”
