Youth gets 12 years imprisonment for smuggling of charas

Patna, May 9 (UNI) A youth was awarded 12 years of rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty in a charas smuggling case.
A designated court for disposal of cases relating to violation of Prevention of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances (NDPS) Act, sentenced one Praveen Kumar to rigorous 12 years imprisonment. The court rejected the arguments of counsel of the accused in the case. The court also slapped a fine of Rs two lakhs on the convict, failing which he would have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months.
Special Public Prosecutor Rakesh Kumar Sinha, while giving details of the case, said that officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau had nabbed Praveen on September 27, 2021, near Saguna Mor under the Danapur police station area of Patna while he was carrying charas and LSD, a highly psychotropic substance.
