Zverev powers into AO quarterfinals after setback

Melbourne, Jan 19 (UNI) Alexander Zverev overcame an early setback to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2025, defeating Ugo Humbert 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at John Cain Arena on Sunday.
The German second seed had his first set of the tournament snatched away by the Frenchman, but quickly regained control to secure a fourth quarterfinal appearance at Melbourne Park, tying the record for German men previously held by Boris Becker.
Zverev's victory came after an intense battle, especially in the second set where he faced pressure from Humbert. However, the 26-year-old showed resilience, bouncing back with a commanding performance. "I’m extremely happy to be in the quarterfinals and only losing one set," Zverev remarked after the match. "A week ago, I was unsure of my level. That makes this achievement even sweeter."
