'Mimansa 2025: A Children's Lit Fest' being held at Gaiety Theatre

Shimla, Apr 18 (UNI) The historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla came alive with youthful energy and literary enthusiasm at 'Mimansa — 2025, Children’s Literature Festival', showcasing intellectual vigor and excellence in academia.
Hosted by the Language & Culture Department and Keekli Charitable Trust, this three-day extravaganza is a tribute to young minds and their boundless creativity.
With over 15 schools participating—including Swaran Public School, IVY International, Sacred Heart, LCTH, and others—the festival boasts a vibrant registration of over 300 students.
Day one opened on a high note with acclaimed illustrator and storyteller Priya Kuriyan inaugurating the event as the Chief Guest. Her inspiring words set a spirited tone for the day.
The Declamation Competition for juniors followed, where young orators impressed the audience and jury—Dr. Deepti Panji, Prince Abhishek, and Eta Thakur—with their eloquence and confidence.
Literary sessions took center stage, beginning with The Jungle Book of Rhymes/Captain Subu, presented by Principal Vinita Sood and brought to life by young readers Varahi, Amol, Atharv, and Sajal. Poet Dinesh Sharma's interactive reading session offered young poets a chance to share their original work, making it a heartwarming exchange of verse.
Author Kishan Shrimaan introduced his book 'Dev Nagri', with moderator Vichlit Ajay and reviewers Manohar Lal, Senha Harnot, Sajal Sharma, and Shaurya exploring the rich mythological tapestry of the story. Similarly, Preeti Sharma Aseem’s session on 'Seventh Continent India' (Sapat Sindhu Bharat) delved into India’s cultural depth, engaging readers Manisha Sharma, Tarun Sharma, and Sachin Sharma.
Art met intellect in a vibrant panel discussion led by Upasana Bisht and Priya Kuriyan, in a discourse on modern artistic expression. Budding artists from Class 2 to college level showcased their talent in a lively competition.
Concluding the day was the Word Play Workshop by Alok Singh, where 12 teams engaged in fun linguistic challenges, setting the stage for competitive rounds to follow.
With a successful and stimulating start, Mimansa 2025 promises even more engaging experiences in the days ahead—celebrating literature, language, and the limitless imagination of children.
The famous Gaiety Theatre of Shimla stands as a beacon of culture, art, and intellectual wealth—a true treasure house of human creativity where artistic expression finds its voice amid an erudite and appreciative audience.
