‘Selvi’ heads to São Paulo International Film Festival after Busan premiere

Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) After unveiling "Selvi" to international audiences at the Busan International Film Festival, the Tamil film is now headed to Brazil, where it will have its Brazilian premiere at the 50th Sao Paulo International Film Festival.
Directed by Sailesh Ratnakumar and produced by National Film Award-winning actress Anjali Patil, the film will be included in the New Filmmakers Competition.
In the film, Patil plays Selvi, a migrant home-care nurse who works in the homes of wealthy families. Her shifts range from 12 to 72 hours, leading to a progressive loss of control over her personal life. As the story progresses, an incident from her past comes to light, and the film takes on the form of a psychological thriller.
Patil said the film's selection for the 50th edition of the São Paulo Film Festival is a matter of pride for the entire team. She said she has a personal connection to Brazil and that filmmaker Walter Salles's "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "I'm Still Here" had a profound impact on her.
The film’s technical team includes editor A. Sreekar Prasad, a nine-time National Film Award winner, and sound designer Anand Krishnamurthy, who has also received a National Award. Archana Padmanabhan and Vinoth Kishan feature in important roles.
"Selvi" is co-produced by the Red Sea Fund, while Hong Kong Asia Film Financing has supported the film. UNI NST SS
