25 pc discount on Khadi garments until Jan 30: CM Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented a gift to the people of the state on birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi with rebate on Khadi products.

He said that Khadi is the mantra of India's independence, and the state government has provided a 25% discount on Khadi garments until January 30, 2027.
He appealed to the people of the state to honor the skills of artisans, handicraftsmen, and weavers by making Khadi a part of their lives.

Chief Minister visited the Gandhi Ashram in Hazratganj on Friday, on the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. He participated in the program and purchased a Khadi product.

The Chief Minister purchased a saffron-colored towel and paid for it. The CM inspected various Khadi products at the Gandhi Ashram and gathered information about them. He encouraged the people present there to purchase Khadi.
He enquired about the well-being of all the people working at the Khadi Ashram and distributed chocolates to the children present there.
He also enquired about their studies and other activities. The children touched the Chief Minister's feet and received his blessings.

Meanwhile , CM Yogi paid floral tribute to the statue of former Prime Minister 'Bharat Ratna' Lal Bahadur Shastri located in the Annexe. He also remembered the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on this occasion.
CM Yogi said that today is the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the great hero of India's independence, and the 122nd birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second Prime Minister, renowned for his simplicity and gentlemanliness. Bapu's "Self-reliance through Swadeshi" became the mantra of India's independence. The independence movement, which was initially scattered, became a mass movement under Bapu's leadership, forcing the British government to flee India.
The Chief Minister said that Gandhiji's mantra of self-reliance and self-reliance will become the foundation of a developed India, which is why PM Modi talks about "local to global."
He believes that encouraging and providing a platform for products made by villages, artisans, handicraftsmen, and weavers is also a sign of gratitude to the great heroes of India's independence.
CM Yogi said that the mention of Lal Bahadur Shastri evokes a sense of reverence in every Indian. He will always be renowned for his simplicity and gentlemanliness. He was as sensitive as he was combative. He demonstrated what he promised. He spoke only as much as he did.
The Chief Minister said that Shastriji's goal was to achieve food self-sufficiency in India and to instill respect in every Indian for the soldiers fighting on the country's borders. Shastriji's slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" became the mantra of independent India.
CM Yogi said that while soldiers were protecting the borders and defeating the enemies, on the other hand, the farmers, who provide food, were committed to making India self-reliant through their sweat and hard work. As a result, India has achieved the goal of food self-sufficiency. India now has the capacity to feed 1.4 billion citizens and supply food to many countries. The mantra given by Shastriji in 1965 is still ingrained in the soldiers and citizens who provide India's internal and external security.
