Kabul, May 25 (UNI) Afghanistan's Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has initiated 175 vital development projects, valued at over £2.7 million (3.4 million US dollars), in the eastern province of Parwan.
The comprehensive programme, detailed in a ministry statement late on Saturday, aims to significantly improve local infrastructure and create much-needed employment opportunities.
The projects, slated for implementation across Parwan's Salang and Shinwari districts, encompass a range of crucial undertakings, including the construction of bridges, culverts, protective walls, irrigation canals, and rural roads. The ministry anticipates these initiatives will not only offer jobs to hundreds of local residents but also enhance living conditions for thousands within the affected areas.
This concerted effort forms part of broader initiatives by the Afghan interim government to rebuild the war-devastated nation and alleviate widespread economic hardship. Since assuming power in August 2021, the administration has consistently emphasised development and infrastructure projects as key strategies to generate employment and foster economic stability.
For instance, the ministry commenced work on 116 similar development projects, costing nearly £2.4 million (3 million US dollars), in the eastern Wardak province in April. These projects reflect a focused drive to address critical infrastructure gaps and provide tangible benefits to citizens amidst the ongoing humanitarian and economic challenges facing Afghanistan.
