All classes suspended indefinitely in Cal law College over student's alleged gangrape

Kolkata, June 30 (UNI) All classes of the South Calcutta Law College here have been suspended with immediate effect, the college authorities announced today.
The decision was taken by the college governing body following the alleged gangrape of a first-year girl student by a former and two current students inside the campus on June 25.
The authorities have suspended classes for all students for an indefinite period, according to an official notification.
"All BA LLB and LLM (General and Honours) classes of South Calcutta Law College will be suspended and the college premises will remain closed for all students until further notice," the notification said.
Police have arrested four accused, including a security guard, in the sexual assault case. A Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been set up by the Kolkata Police to probe the matter.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with politicians, NGOs, and civilian forums attempting to visit the college to express their resentment over the alleged failure of the administration.
A set of PILs has been filed in the Calcutta High Court, and a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on the issue. The National Women's Commission members visited the college yesterday, and a BJP central fact-finding team is probing the issue. UNI PC SSP
