AP: Anantapur MP Valmiki flags off extended service of Anantapur-KSR Bengaluru MEMU

Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), June 4 (UNI) Anantapur Parliament member Ambica G. Lakshminarayana Valmiki, flagged off the extended service of Train No. 66560 Anantapur – KSR Bengaluru MEMU, from Anantapur Railway station, here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Valmiki stated that a long-cherished dream of the people of Anantapur has come true with the flagging off of the first train originating from the district.
He announced that, after sustained efforts, the extension of Train No. 66559/66560 KSR Bengaluru – Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Nilayam – KSR Bengaluru MEMU service up to Anantapur has been approved.
He stated that that the extension of this train will be especially beneficial for students, parents, traders, and local residents traveling for medical and other essential purposes.
Highlighting the affordability of rail transport, he stated that passengers can travel from Anantapur to Bengaluru for just Rs.50, making railways the most cost-effective mode of transport.
The MP expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Minister of Railways for their guidance and continued support in enhancing the rail infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh.
He further informed that the state has received a record budget allocation of Rs. 9,417 crore for the financial year 2025–26, the highest ever compared to previous years.
Lakshminarayana also stated that Anantapur Railway Station is being redeveloped at a cost of Rs. 29.20 crores in a phased manner under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
The redeveloped station will be equipped with modern passenger amenities and world-class facilities, he said. Additionally, Dharmavaram, Hindupuram, Tadipatri, and Gooty Railway stations are also being redeveloped under the ABSS, he added.
MLA, Paritala Sunitha, who attended the event, appreciated the efforts of the Anantapur MP in ensuring the extension of train service up to Anantapur.
She stated that the extended service will cater to the needs of various groups in the society.
She also requested for more trains from Anantapur towards Vijayawada and Guntur.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chandrashekar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, stated that the extension of the Anantapur – KSR Bengaluru MEMU marks a significant milestone in enhancing Rail connectivity and re-affirming Railways’ commitment towards providing best Rail infrastructure for the people in the region.
Udaynath Kotla, Deputy General Manager (G), SCR also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
