AP: M’patnam railway station to be fully functional by March 2027: DRM

Machilipatnam, Oct 17 (UNI) Vijayawada Divisional Manager Mohit Sonakiya has announced that the newly built railway station in the rapidly developing Machilipatnam will be fully functional by next March and some of the problems currently faced by passengers will be resolved.
Speaking at a face-to-face program called ‘Rail Jan Samvad’ organized with passengers from the town and surrounding villages at the Machilipatnam railway station premises on Saturday, the Divisional Manager said that the difficulties faced by the elderly and the disabled in moving from the first platform to other platforms with luggage will be eliminated by next March.
“By then, the construction of the flyover bridge will be completed and a ramp that can be climbed and elevators connecting it to two or three platforms will be installed,” he explained.
He noted that the currently running Machilipatnam-Visakhapatnam Express train would be extended up to Palasa or at least up to Srikakulam, adding that thousands of people from Uttarandhra who have migrated to Machilipatnam, Gudivada and the surrounding areas of these towns and settled in this area, have requested that it be given a stop at Chilakalapudi as it would be convenient for their travel.
Later, Divisional Manager Sonakiya inspected the flyover bridge and other construction works under construction at Machilipatnam Railway Station with the concerned officials.
