AP: Physical Fitness Centre being established for Rs 12 crore :Kollu

Machilipatnam, May 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Excise and Mines Kollu Ravindra has announced that a Physical Fitness Centre will be established on the medical college premises for Rs 12 crore, and the government is giving priority for public health.

The Excise and Mines Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Urban Health Centre here on Wednesday. The Urban Health Centre is being constructed for Rs 80 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that a physical fitness centre would be constructed on the premises of the medical college here for Rs 12 crore, and the tenders for the same had already been invited. The works of the physical fitness centre will begin soon, he added.

Minister Kollu Ravindra mentioned that the State government is paying special attention to the health of the people, along with development and welfare programs. The urban health center is coming up on 500 yards of site. Some individuals tried to encroach on the 500 yards of precious government land, but their attempts were foiled with great difficulty, the Minister recalled.

“The construction of the urban health center has been undertaken with the help of the Central Government, and if the construction of the Center is completed, it will be very useful for every family in the surrounding areas, especially dialysis patients,” he asserted.

The Minister highlighted that funds are being extended by the Government for the construction of a hospital attached to the medical college here. Minister Ravindra assured of developing Machilipatnam as an important health centre in the region. He acknowledged that Rs 3 crore had been disbursed for the medical treatment of the poor from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

APSRTC chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao also spoke. Municipal Commissioner Bapiraju, DMHO Dr.Sharmistha, and Municipal DE K Naik were among those who were present.
