AP: Rs 100 Cr drinking water project will be taken up in Penukonda: Minister

Anantapur, June 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for BC and EWS Welfare S Savitha has announced that drinking water will be provided to every household under Amrit 2.0 scheme in Penugonda town.

Minister Savitha, flanked by MP BK Parthasarathi, laid the foundation stone for the construction of Anna canteen at RTO office in Penukonda on Saturday. The Anna canteen will be constructed at a cost of Rs 62 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that every household would be provided a drinking water tap in Penukonda town to provide potable water, adding that the mega drinking water project would be taken up under the Centre’s Amrit 2.0 scheme at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

She also announced that CC roads and drainage canals would be constructed in Penukonda town at a cost of Rs 5 crore and the Government hospital here would be renovated at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Central lighting system would also be installed in Penukonda town at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore, she added.

She observed that there are 203 Anna canteens in the state and some Anna canteens would be set up to satiate the hunger of the poor. As part of it, bhoomi pooja performed today for the construction of Anna canteen building here at a cost of Rs 62 lakh, she highlighted.

The long pending widening of railway station road was completed and bhoomi pooja was performed for the widening of Konapuram road. The Minister assured of taking steps to establish an ITI here. The electricity centre, which was constructed during the tenure of her father, farmer Minister Ramachandra Reddy, would be renovated and the service of the centre would be made available to the people soon, she promised.

“The TTD Kalyanamandapam will be constructed in Penukonda at a cost of Rs 6 crore. The bhoomi pooja will be performed for the Rs 16 crore NTR smart city. Penukonda is poised to be developed in all aspects,” she revealed and thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh for their cooperation for the development of Penukonda.
